About The Position

The Assistant Manager I assists the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports day-to-day store activities, helps maintain merchandise and store presentation, performs opening and closing procedures as needed, and processes corporate directives. It also assists with ordering, damaged merchandise, records, loss prevention, and safeguarding company assets. The Assistant Manager helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates while promoting a safe, respectful, and customer-friendly environment. The position includes maintaining store cleanliness and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks through the stockroom to the sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping—including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts—and loss prevention.
Maintain store areas, including a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom, to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
