About The Position

The Assistant Manager I assists with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports daily store activities, helps customers, maintains merchandise and store presentation, and assists the Store Manager with supervising, training, and developing Store Associates. The position also supports store record keeping, merchandise ordering and processing, loss prevention, and compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. It includes maintaining store cleanliness and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed; maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives and communications, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, and Key Survey information requests.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits, and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and ensure Store Associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
