About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists the Store Manager with daily store activities, merchandise handling and presentation, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, record keeping, loss prevention, and maintaining company standards for store conditions and safety. The position also helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and supports a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff. Responsibilities include maintaining store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and other areas, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the store, including a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom, to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure Store Associates follow them.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out the trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
