About The Position

The Assistant Manager I assists the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports daily store activities, helps maintain merchandise and store presentation, performs opening and closing procedures as needed, and processes corporate directives. It also assists with ordering and handling merchandise, record keeping, loss prevention, cash security, and ensuring store policies and safety procedures are followed. The Assistant Manager helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and contributes to a positive, safe, respectful environment for customers and employees. Responsibilities include maintaining store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and other areas. Other duties may be assigned. This position is part-time and is located at 1245 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78209-4854.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive and approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits, and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor, stockroom, and other store areas to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates follow them.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
