Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate's degree from an accredited college or university with equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year in a lead or supervisory role with a bachelor's degree or minimum of three years in a supervisory role with an associate's degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, SOPs, production records, and regulatory documents. Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with staff and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations, compute percentages and volumes, and analyze production metrics.
  • Apply sound judgment to troubleshoot production issues, prioritize tasks, and implement practical solutions in standardized and variable situations.
  • Leadership and coaching skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and safety
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work effectively
  • Flexible with work hours and shifts as business needs require
  • Critical thinking and continuous improvement mindset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily component production activities to ensure timely and accurate processing of blood products in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements (FDA, AABB, cGMP).
  • Monitor product quality and process performance, review batch records, and ensure completeness and accuracy of production documentation.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Technical teams to investigate deviations, nonconformances, and product discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in managing recalls, quarantines, and product dispositions when necessary, and communicate with internal teams and external customers as required.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor production staff to maintain high standards of performance, safety, and compliance.
  • Assist the Manager in staffing decisions, shift scheduling, and workload allocation to meet production targets.
  • Provide direction and coverage for the department in the Manager’s absence to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, track production metrics, and support initiatives to improve throughput, efficiency, and quality.
  • Lead onboarding and competency training for new hires and provide ongoing staff development and performance feedback.
  • Participate in validation projects, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives to enhance departmental capabilities.
  • Maintain and update training records, competency assessments, and ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational training requirements.
