About The Position

East Cambridge Savings Bank’s Human Resources Division is actively recruiting for an Assistant Manager-Compensation & Benefits. Under the general direction of the Vice President – Sr. Human Resources Manager, this role assists with the coordination and implementation of compensation and benefits programs in accordance with established Bank policies, procedures and strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent through specialized course work and training
  • At least three years of experience in Human Resources including compensation, payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and verbal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills, which includes the ability to draft correspondence, memos and letters
  • Diligent in resolving issues as they arise, determining root cause and implementing preventive measures
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing and processing payroll.
  • Ensures compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains related documentation to support payroll entries.
  • Maintains the payroll system, assisting with upgrades and administration as needed.
  • Administers and monitors the payroll system home page, ensuring that information posted falls within established guidelines.
  • Reviews payroll entries for accuracy and troubleshoots payroll discrepancies.
  • Creates payroll reports as needed.
  • Assists with the year-end payroll process.
  • Ensures that payroll tax issues are resolved and that payroll taxes are paid in compliance with State and Federal law by working directly with the payroll vendor.
  • Administers employee benefit programs.
  • Determines employee eligibility and manages all benefit enrollments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reviews and approves benefit invoices confirming accurate enrollment.
  • Maintains benefit enrollment records and prepares reports as needed.
  • Assists employees with benefits related questions.
  • Coordinates the benefits' open enrollment process.
  • Communicates benefit plans to employees through the creation and distribution of materials.
  • Uses technology to enhance self-service platform for dissemination of information.
  • Reviews benefit changes and enrollments to ensure vendor benefits systems are updated with current information.
  • Keeps abreast of regulations that may affect compliance and informs HR Officer of concerns as needed.
  • Initiates preparation and control of the timely filing of all 5500 tax filing reports.
  • Amends, distributes and tracks all summary plan descriptions, summary material modifications, and summary annual reports.
  • Supports Bank wide wellness initiatives and administers employee benefit programs as needed.
  • Assists employees with benefits related questions.
  • Assists in administering the Bank's compensation programs, including position descriptions, salary charts used for market comparison, salary structures, performance appraisal program, etc.
  • Supports Managers in execution of performance management process.
  • Completes external compensation and benefits surveys as needed.
  • Maintains FMLA and medical files, ensuring that all records are complete and accurate in accordance with regulations.
  • Responsible for managing paid time off benefits in accordance with related policies, ensuring the balances and accruals are accurate.
  • Assists with the upkeep of personnel files and records for all employees.
  • Files employee documentation as needed.
  • Responsible for preparation and maintenance of all department invoices relating to area of responsibility and ensures proper procedure for payment.
  • Assists with maintaining the budget for the Division.
  • Creates monthly variance reports and submits to accounting in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a resource by creating a variety of customized payroll reports and related procedures when requested by management.
  • Assists with gathering information for internal and external audits and exams.
  • Monitors results of operational audits and ensure operational preparedness for audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and laws and regulations.
  • Proactively manages reconciliation of General Ledger with Accounting team.
  • Assists with the shift to the digitization of HR files.
  • Maintains confidentiality/security of information in compliance with company policy, legal requirements and functional expectations.
