About The Position

This role supports and provides coordination and direction to staff members by proactively offering assistance. The Assistant Manager serves as a preceptor, mentoring others regarding care of defined populations in resource utilization and time management. They foster healthy relationships in the work environment and actively participate in the interviewing and orientation process for new hires within the Cardiac Service line. This position involves communicating organizational information and aspects of administrative and clinical practice respectfully and positively. The role includes teaching and coordinating co-workers to develop comprehensive plans of care in collaboration with patients and families, focusing on preventive planning and individual differences. They are responsible for coordinating appropriate, timely patient care between healthcare providers and ancillary clinicians for defined patient populations, aiming for optimal outcomes. The Assistant Manager provides safe and effective care by leading and initiating improvements in patient care, unit operations, quality, and patient safety, aligning with organizational goals. They integrate, modify, and contribute to professional practice standards, policies, and procedures by participating in unit projects, shared governance, or interdisciplinary team activities. The role involves leading and supporting colleagues in evidence-based practice/performance improvement projects and facilitating active involvement in team meetings and process improvement. Accurate and timely documentation in medical records, including diagnosis and CPT coding, is required. The Assistant Manager implements department strategies to achieve financial targets and mentors others to do the same through efficient documentation, decreasing length of stay, and optimizing efficiency. They demonstrate leadership as a clinical resource and patient advocate by serving as an instructor in continuing education and formal programs, identifying leadership opportunities for staff growth, and coaching/mentoring individuals. The role also involves generating and communicating new ideas to lead the team to creative strategies that improve quality or service and impact the department, addressing organizational or department priorities. Finally, the Assistant Manager participates in Hospital and System-wide committees representing the Advanced Practice Provider community.

  • Actively participates/coordinates the interviewing process of candidates in hospital-based departments for Cardiac Service line.
  • Coordinates the orientation schedule of newly hired as appropriate.
  • Communicates organizational information and aspects of administrative and clinical practice in a respectful and positive manner when interacting with staff.
  • Teaches/coordinates co-workers to develop comprehensive plans of care in collaboration with patients and families, incorporating individual differences and preventive planning.
  • Coordinates appropriate, timely patient care between health care providers and other ancillary clinicians for a defined patient population(s), focusing on identified expected unit/optimal outcomes, individualized to the patient.
  • Provides safe and effective care by leading and initiating areas for improvement in patient care or unit operations, outcome, quality and patient safety improvement activities in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Integrates, modifies, and contributes to professional practice standards, policies, procedures, protocols by participating in unit projects, shared governance activities or interdisciplinary team activities.
