About The Position

The Assistant Maintenance Technician manages day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department, repairing community equipment, operating systems, structures, and grounds in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as directed by the Executive Director. The role helps maintain a safe and comfortable community. It is a full-time, day-shift position at Teal Creek Assisted Living in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
Ability to be patient and deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and guests.

Nice To Haves

Vocational/technical school education or other certification.

Responsibilities

Follow daily work instructions efficiently.
Perform maintenance work and repairs efficiently and promptly.
Operate and maintain equipment and tools safely, following applicable safety standards.
Work only on equipment and with chemicals for which properly trained, and know where Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are located.
Clear snow and debris from sidewalks as needed.
Assist with lawn care, including mowing, planting, and shrub trimming.
Assist with minor and routine painting, plumbing, carpentry, and related maintenance using hand tools.
Keep certifications current and participate in continuing education, including staff meetings, in-services, and web-based training.
Regularly inspect resident rooms or units for order, safety, and proper equipment performance.
Interact with residents with patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, adapting to their current maturity level.
