About The Position

This role may supervise a shift or team of maintenance hourly technicians and fills in for the maintenance manager as needed to manage the entire facility maintenance department. The position is responsible for managing the maintenance budget, tracking key performance measures, and overseeing the work order system. It involves planning maintenance projects, scheduling personnel, managing project budgets, and ensuring necessary parts are available. The role also works with the Maintenance Manager to schedule predictive/preventative maintenance and leads Environmental Health & Safety initiatives. Additionally, it manages the inventory/parts for the facility's store-room, assists with capital projects, and coordinates routine service contractors. The position determines material needs, sources and purchases materials, and inspects deliveries. It tracks equipment and building repair costs, analyzes high maintenance cost centers, and works with vendors to consolidate purchases. The role may also manage contracted work by planning tasks, developing scopes of work, and processing contractor bids. Finally, it plans routine and preventative maintenance tasks and maintains organized technical information in the Maintenance Office.

Requirements

  • Four years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • Four years’ experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy experience in electronics preferred.
  • Mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated personnel supervisory skills.
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • College and/or related technical courses are preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Boiler's License Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a shift or team of maintenance hourly technicians.
  • Fill in for the maintenance manager as needed to manage the entire facility maintenance department.
  • Manage the maintenance budget for the facility, including running and reviewing SAP reports and maintaining a spreadsheet of YTD expenditures.
  • Utilize systems, including KIWI and SAP, to track maintenance key performance measures.
  • Manage the work order system and track work orders through completion.
  • Compile reports related to work order efficiency for the leadership team.
  • Conduct weekly maintenance priority meetings with the maintenance and production leadership team.
  • Plan maintenance projects, including scheduling of personnel, maintaining project budget, accessing machine manuals, ensuring needed parts are in inventory, working with the production team, and ensuring work orders are in the system, updated, and completed.
  • Schedule predictive/preventative maintenance activities.
  • Lead Environmental Health & Safety initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain the inventory/parts management of the facility’s store-room.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager in the development and management of capital projects and their implementation.
  • Manage and maintain a single, site-wide parts and tool inventory.
  • Coordinate and manage routine service contractors.
  • Determine material needs for repairs, research options, obtain pricing, utilize the SAP system to create a requisition, and receive material in SAP.
  • Coordinate purchasing, inventory, and work order administration activities of the Maintenance Department.
  • Source material available locally and purchase needed material using a Pcard, maintain purchase records, and reconcile the P-card.
  • Inspect all maintenance materials and services upon delivery.
  • Assist in ensuring proper plant receiving procedures are followed.
  • Track equipment repair, building repair, or project costs using the SAP system or other available methods and report to management.
  • Utilize current site maintenance personnel to perform work before sourcing external contract services.
  • Analyze high maintenance cost centers and implement solutions to reduce and improve the cost.
  • Work with vendors to consolidate purchases where cost savings can be derived.
  • Manage work to be contracted out by planning the tasks to be completed, developing a scope of work, and contacting contractors for quotations.
  • Plan Routine Maintenance Tasks & Preventative Maintenance Events.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly fashion for all catalogues, bulletins and technical information in the Maintenance Office.
