This role provides continuity in leadership in the Maintenance Manager's absence. It involves additional leadership and interaction with all shift supervisors, including utility and service writers. The position requires skills assessment of current staff, direct interaction with the corporate training team, and identification and development of training curriculum based on these assessments. The Assistant Maintenance Manager monitors employee development progress and identifies future training needs. They ensure open communication across all shifts, conduct root cause analysis on road calls to identify corrective actions for continuous improvement, and are accountable for ensuring service peak availability requirements are met. This role also ensures quality inspections are completed, manages scheduling, diagnosing, and prioritizing job assignments, and monitors estimated repair times. Additionally, the Assistant Maintenance Manager ensures all maintenance administrative requirements are managed and updated accurately and timely. They are responsible for ensuring all OSHA and company Safety policies and procedures are adhered to, ensuring compliance with safety training, and ensuring all required safety equipment/PPE and equipment/tooling are inspected and available. The role involves interacting with client personnel, serving as a member of the Management Team, participating in client meetings, policy/planning development, and assuring departmental conformance to contractual requirements. The Assistant Maintenance Manager assumes all responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager during their absence and identifies and monitors contractual KPIs, communicating performance and improvement plans regularly with supervisors and staff. They manage vehicle/parts warranty, support third-party audits, and provide input on revisions to the PM program based on operational needs. This role also ensures QA requirements are met, reviews results with supervisors, and shares them with the team. People management includes providing leadership and direction to maintenance and utility supervision and staff, coordinating work, prioritizing and assigning tasks, conducting performance evaluations, making hiring/termination/disciplinary decisions, and identifying/scheduling training needs. They coordinate training with the Corporate Training Team, monitor progress, and assess next steps. The role ensures open and transparent communication with staff, provides frequent updates to Operations/Dispatch and Maintenance/Utility supervision, and offers input on union-related issues. Daily team communication and weekly trend analysis/feedback on KPI performance are also key responsibilities. The Assistant Maintenance Manager provides input on facility projects, manages the maintenance and repair of equipment, facilities, and grounds, and ensures facility and shop equipment are clean, organized, and in safe operating condition. They interact with vendors, monitor vehicles waiting for parts, ensure warranty and core parts are tagged and returned, and secure parts inventory. The role directs and monitors service writers, ensures CMMS operating systems and administrative requirements are managed and updated in real-time, and ensures work orders are complete and accurate with proper VMRS coding. They ensure 100% KIHM compliance, monitor Weekly Production Plan progress, review and monitor daily rescheduled repairs, perform root cause analysis on road failures, assign jobs based on skillset, conduct Gemba Walks, assist with troubleshooting, and establish/monitor standard repair times. The Assistant Maintenance Manager performs QA inspections and manages compliance with scheduled maintenance service intervals, utilities BI-annual detailing, daily vehicle cleaning standards, and prioritizes/schedules driver inspection reports.
