The Machine Operator reports directly to the Assistant Production Manager but may also take instruction from production supervisors when serving as a floating operator. This position is responsible for achieving objectives laid down by the Assistant Production Manager (or production supervisor) and may be assigned special projects to support production goals. This position requires near perfect attendance and punctuality. Employees are expected to be in their department area before the shift starts.

Requirements

  • Team Player.
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Read and understand complex sketches (training provided on-the-job).
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within three months (training provided on-the-job).
  • Ability to properly use hand tools.
  • Basic fabrication skills.
  • Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16".
  • Proficient in math, both decimal and inch calculations.
  • Ability to operate all machines on production line to support schedule compliance as needed.
  • Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One-year work history or military service with honorable discharge

Responsibilities

  • Learn standard operating procedures for all CNC machines.
  • Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
  • Minimize material waste.
  • Responsible for care and preventive maintenance on the equipment in use.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
  • Follow instructions given by supervisor.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in your area and the entire facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
