Assistant/Lead Teacher - Toddlers
About The Position
The Goddard School in Novi, Michigan is seeking an Assistant or Lead Teacher for toddler classrooms serving children ages 1 to 2.5 years. The teacher helps create a nurturing environment by implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum through the proprietary Wonder of Learning® program. The role involves leading daily activities, inspiring young children, and collaborating with a supportive team. Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Successfully completed state-required pre-service training.
- Develops relationships and communicates effectively with children, families, and faculty members.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with handling children.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
- 1–2 years of previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities using the Wonder of Learning® curriculum to engage children and support their growth.
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate openly, effectively, and positively with families and guardians about children's progress and daily activities.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, uphold health and safety standards and licensing regulations, and ensure their well-being.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance teaching skills.
- Observe, assess, and document children's learning and development to inform activities and share insights with families.
- Support Assistant Teachers and Resource Teachers and foster a collaborative, positive team environment.
- Model and implement positive guidance strategies to support social-emotional growth and conflict resolution.
