About the Role As an Assistant Kitchen Manager, you'll support the daily operations of the kitchen by leading food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring exceptional food quality and safety. You'll play a key role in maintaining an efficient kitchen, supporting employee development, managing inventory, and serving as the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Person in Charge when needed.

Requirements

• Previous cooking or commercial kitchen experience required
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience required
• Functional computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability to successfully pass a True Friends background check
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members in person
• Ability to use hands and fingers to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools

Nice To Haves

• Experience preparing meals in large quantities preferred
• Experience accommodating special dietary needs preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
• Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Minnesota Department of Health Food Manager License

Responsibilities

• Lead daily food preparation and meal service while ensuring quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction
• Supervise and support kitchen staff during daily operations
• Serve as the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Person in Charge as assigned
• Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, coordinate with vendors, and submit invoices
• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of the kitchen and dining areas
• Submit maintenance requests for kitchen equipment and facilities as needed
• Prepare meals that accommodate special dietary needs following established guidelines
• Teach and oversee recipes, food production, and menu execution
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding kitchen staff
• Provide coaching, training, and performance support to employees
• Assist with menu planning and development
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and organizational policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
