About The Position

The Assistant Kitchen Manager supports the Kitchen Manager in overseeing daily kitchen operations at the Southern Utah Veterans Home. This role ensures the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals in a safe, sanitary, and efficient manner while maintaining compliance with all health and safety regulations. The Assistant Kitchen Manager will help lead kitchen staff, manage inventory, and contribute to menu planning to meet the nutritional needs of our residents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary or food service certification preferred.
• Previous experience in a supervisory role within a kitchen or food service environment.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Culinary or food service certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and serving.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Help plan menus in collaboration with the Kitchen Manager and dietary staff to meet resident nutritional requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies to maintain adequate stock.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
• Assist in scheduling staff and managing labor costs.
• Support the Kitchen Manager in administrative tasks and reporting as needed.
• Address and resolve any kitchen-related issues promptly and professionally.
