About The Position

Edu-Tech Academic Solutions is seeking a proactive, hands-on Assistant IT Support Manager for a partner independent school serving students in grades 9-12. This role provides comprehensive assistance for all constituents, troubleshooting problems, and maintaining technology to ensure the successful operation of computer systems, networks, and IT initiatives throughout the campus. This role reports directly to the Director of IT to implement and maintain a strategic technology plan that promotes and advances the school's mission. Key focuses include the implementation of the technology plan, promotion of educational technology, organization of a student-based technical support team, and oversight of all school-owned equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent professional experience and certifications also considered.
  • 0-2 years of technical support experience, preferably in a K-12 educational environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the patience to assist users of all skill levels.
  • Strong desire to learn, ability to follow documentation, and a service-oriented mindset when assisting students, faculty, and staff.
  • Frequently required to walk to work areas and go up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work for long periods on a computer.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during holidays as needed.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for travel to meetings, conferences, and trainings.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with Google Apps for Education, PowerSchool, and FinalSite.
  • Google Workspace Administrator certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the setup, maintenance, and repair of all school-owned computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.
  • Diagnose and solve hardware or software issues for all end-users in a timely fashion.
  • Promote and support the effective use of educational technology, including Schoology, PowerTeacher, SMART technologies, and STEM programs.
  • Provide oversight and vision for the technical side of digital content, digital signage, and website maintenance via platforms like FinalSite.
  • Maintain and monitor computer networks, including wireless systems, firewalls, and telephone systems.
  • Install and maintain network-based Windows and cloud-based servers, as well as the school's data network and databases.
  • Organize and maintain firewall and security systems to ensure a secure environment.
  • Coordinate and support facilities staff on various school systems, including Public Address (PA) systems, bells/clocks, and security systems.
  • Train and lead students in a classroom or group setting to provide technical support to the overall school community.
  • Aid the Director of IT in the implementation of all special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies that support classroom learning and optimize student achievement.
  • Remain current on new developments with software, hardware, and network systems while maintaining industry-standard certifications.
