About The Position

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking an Assistant IT Support Lead to support cybersecurity operations, RMF compliance activities, vulnerability assessments, and IT system security implementation for military information systems. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, advanced cybersecurity certifications, and hands-on experience managing RMF packages within eMASS. This role assists the IT Support Lead in ensuring compliant, secure, and resilient information systems across DoD environments.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or Cybersecurity OR Associate degree in IT or Cybersecurity with five years of experience
  • Current certification meeting DCWF Information Systems Security Officer (722) Intermediate or Advanced proficiency (e.g., CISSP, CISM)
  • Minimum 20 hours of annual CPD
  • Demonstrated knowledge in: Cybersecurity principles and methodologies, Risk management processes and frameworks, Network security architecture and protocols, Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, Security system design and implementation, Security incident response, Compliance with laws, regulations, and standards (NIST, FISMA, PCI DSS)
  • Managing DoD RMF packages in eMASS (two years)
  • Conducting vulnerability scans and analysis
  • Developing and maintaining RMF artifacts
  • Operating system security (Windows/Linux)
  • Network architectures and security technologies
  • Two years of experience managing RMF packages within eMASS
  • Experience with ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scanning and analysis
  • Experience developing and maintaining RMF artifacts (SSP, POA&M)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining cybersecurity policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support the creation, updating, and management of RMF artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, and supporting evidence.
  • Manage and update DoD RMF packages within the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Conduct vulnerability scans using ACAS/Nessus and analyze results to identify weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Help oversee implementation of security controls and monitor system compliance with DoD requirements.
  • Support incident response activities, including documentation, analysis, and remediation coordination.
  • Provide guidance to personnel on cybersecurity practices, system security requirements, and compliance responsibilities.
  • Assist in designing and implementing secure network and system architectures in accordance with DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Perform security assessments and contribute to authorization processes under NIST RMF guidelines.
  • Maintain current cybersecurity certifications and complete 20+ hours of annual Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Collaborate with IT teams, system owners, and leadership to ensure secure data, systems, and network operations.
  • Prepare reports, technical documentation, and compliance updates as required.
