About The Position

The Assistant Instructor is responsible for providing instructional and academic support to learners in courses. This support will be offered through: 1:1 coaching and consultation, instructional materials and resources, and the facilitation of office hours or group study sessions. The role involves building an online community, creating engaging learning resources, leading discussions, planning study sessions, assessing learning, and staying updated with essential technologies. Maintaining learner records is also a key responsibility. This position is remote and requires 30-35 hours per week, with most duties completable on nights and weekends, though some availability during regular business hours for training, team meetings, and learner appointments is necessary. Weekend check-ins to the courseroom are expected.

  • Ability to assess individual and group learning needs and explain concepts in different ways.
  • Experience working with a diversity of learning styles.
  • Comfortable using technology to facilitate learning.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the field as a BCBA required.
  • 1-3 years teaching experience at the graduate level, in an online environment preferred.
  • Must be a BCBA.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employees working out of a home office are responsible for providing an appropriate and safe office space, office furniture and organization, communication tools, and related items.
  • Arranging for high speed internet connection, printer and a dedicated phone line for business use.
  • The environment must be free from distractions and enable a highly productive and professional work environment.
  • Any and all daycare arrangements must be made so that employees are not working while providing care for children or other family members at home.

Responsibilities

  • Providing instructional and academic support to learners through 1:1 coaching, consultation, instructional materials, and facilitation of office hours or group study sessions.

  • Using text, video, and other technologies to create learning resources that drive learner engagement and assist learners with course content and skill development.
  • Leading and commenting in courseroom discussions with learners.
  • Planning and facilitating optional weekly interactive, collaborative study and review sessions that combine content with study strategies.
  • Assessing learning and comprehension through evaluation of course competencies, including informal assessments or formal evaluations utilizing rubrics for discussions and assignments.
  • Keeping up to date with essential technologies, including Civitas, Outlook, Kaltura, and more.
  • Maintaining adequate learner records.
  • Checking into the courseroom on weekends.
