Assistant infant/toddler Teacher

LeafSpring Schools is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our vibrant early learning community. As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll work closely with the Lead Teacher to deliver a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom environment for infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children. You’ll help implement play-based learning activities, manage classroom routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Requirements
- Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP)
- Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to multitask, follow classroom structure, and adapt to children’s needs
- High school diploma or GED required
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education
- CDA or enrollment in Early Childhood Education courses
Responsibilities
- Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time
- Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests
- Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands-on activities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations
- Encourage independence, self-help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies
- Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team
- Provide age-appropriate support for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers, depending on assigned classroom
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment
