About The Position

Working under the supervision of the Director of Policy, the Assistant I – Social Policy will complete ongoing research and department-related tasks. This role provides consistent and high-quality service and contributes to the proper stewardship of resources to help ensure operational effectiveness in support of high-quality programming.

Requirements

  • Experience with typing/word processing, data entry into online databases and forms, and working with various office equipment.
  • Experience in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and information management systems.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in social protection, humanitarian policy, or development policy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Ability to legally work where the position is to be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews on social protection.
  • Summarize definitions and concepts from major institutions (donors, UN, INGOs, multilaterals).
  • Support analysis of policy directions in humanitarian and development contexts.
  • Assist in mapping institutional actors and emerging stakeholders.
  • Compile CRS survey results to highlight engagement and programming trends.
  • Support limited key informant interviews (external experts, CRS staff).
  • Document best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to drafting a synthesis report (15–20 pages).
  • Conduct background research and prepare briefing notes.
  • Draft short internal memos or summaries.
  • Support ongoing policy analysis and internal discussions.
