About The Position

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness, orderliness, and overall presentation of the accommodation facility, directly impacting guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. This position supports the Housekeeping Manager in supervising and coordinating the daily activities of the housekeeping team, ensuring that all guest rooms and public areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and maintenance. The role involves managing staff schedules, training new employees, and monitoring inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment to maintain seamless operations. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager also collaborates with other departments to address guest requests and resolve any housekeeping-related issues promptly. Ultimately, this position contributes to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment that enhances the guest experience and supports the establishment’s reputation for excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in housekeeping or hospitality, with some supervisory responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or certification in hospitality management or related field.
  • Experience using housekeeping management software or property management systems.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant managerial role within the hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices in workplace safety.
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish, allows the abilities to effectively communicate with diverse staff and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and supervising the housekeeping team to ensure efficient and thorough cleaning of guest rooms and public areas.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during peak and off-peak hours.
  • Conduct regular inspections of rooms and public spaces to ensure compliance with cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate housekeeping staff to promote professional development and high performance.
  • Manage inventory control of cleaning supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary to avoid shortages.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and front desk teams to address guest requests and resolve issues promptly.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety regulations and company policies within the housekeeping department.
  • Prepare reports on housekeeping activities, staff performance, and operational challenges for senior management.
