About The Position

The Assistant D.U.G. (Drive Up & Go) Manager supports the D.U.G. Manager in overseeing the daily operation of the department. This position helps ensure online customer orders are selected accurately, handled with care, completed on time, and delivered with excellent customer service. The Assistant D.U.G. Manager also supports associate training, productivity, order accuracy, department organization, and overall operational performance. Requirements

  • Previous retail, grocery, customer service, e-commerce, or related experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple customer orders and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using handheld devices, computers, and other technology used to process customer orders.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be dependable, organized, and able to demonstrate good judgment.
  • Ability to work with urgency while maintaining order accuracy and product quality.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and move grocery products, totes, carts, and department supplies as required.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated, cooler, and freezer environments.
  • Ability to move throughout the store frequently while selecting customer orders.
  • Ability to safely transport customer orders to designated pickup areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the D.U.G. Manager with the overall operation and performance of the Drive Up & Go department.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to online and pickup customers.
  • Support, coach, and train D.U.G. associates on department procedures and customer service expectations.
  • Help assign daily tasks and monitor associate workload to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.
  • Pick and process customer orders when needed to support department workload.
  • Ensure customer orders are selected according to quality, freshness, and accuracy standards.
  • Monitor substitutions and out-of-stock items and help ensure appropriate alternatives are selected when necessary.
  • Verify orders are properly staged, organized, and stored in the appropriate temperature-controlled areas.
  • Help ensure refrigerated and frozen products remain within proper temperature requirements throughout the order process.
  • Monitor incoming orders, pickup times, and department workload throughout the shift.
  • Assist with coordinating associate breaks, lunches, and coverage to maintain continuous department operations.
  • Support timely delivery of orders to customers at designated pickup locations.
  • Help resolve customer concerns involving missing items, substitutions, product quality, order accuracy, or pickup experience.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized staging, storage, work, and pickup areas.
  • Ensure equipment and handheld devices are properly handled, charged, organized, and available for associates.
  • Monitor department productivity and help identify opportunities to improve picking efficiency and order accuracy.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Communicate staffing concerns, equipment issues, order delays, and operational needs to the D.U.G. Manager or store leadership.
  • Assist with opening and closing department responsibilities as assigned.
  • Step into the D.U.G. Manager's leadership responsibilities when the manager is unavailable.
  • Support other areas of the store as needed and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Lead by example and maintain a professional, positive, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Provide associates with clear direction, expectations, and follow-up.
  • Help train and develop associates through coaching and ongoing feedback.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, urgency, accuracy, and excellent customer service.
  • Monitor department workflow and adjust associate assignments based on order volume and business needs.
  • Maintain high standards for order quality and customer satisfaction throughout the shift.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve productivity, organization, and department performance.
  • Respond professionally to customer concerns and help reach quick and appropriate resolutions.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the D.U.G. Manager and store leadership.
