The Department of Transportation is looking for an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager who is ready to take on meaningful responsibility. Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance crews and guide daily activities for roadway and bridge work
  • Prepare work plans, estimates, and schedules for both short and long term operations
  • Review needs for materials, equipment, and personnel and recommend actions for future work
  • Manage and monitor agility agreements and work with local officials on shared projects
  • Support incident and emergency management activities within the county
  • Conduct inspections of work sites, review practices, and coordinate contract work as needed
