About The Position

The Assistant Health Services Director is responsible for supervising all care staff; coordinating all personal care services provided to residents by personal care staff; promoting the health and wellbeing of each resident; and reporting observed changes in resident condition or health to the Executive Director and resident’s responsible party. This position supports the philosophy of Arcadia Senior Living to create environments that respect the emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual needs of residents, attract and retain exceptional staff, create communities that define exceptional customer service, and manage individual communities professionally in meeting financial expectations and resident satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Licensed or Registered Nurse
  • State specific accreditation or license required
  • Proven management experience
  • Ability to manage staff
  • Excellent written, verbal, grammatical and punctuation skills
  • Must be self-motivated, have the ability to work independently, and make decisions
  • Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented
  • Pleasant, professional and personal manner
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, interpersonal and mediation skills, ability to evaluate workers’ performance, strong working knowledge of employment laws and company regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred in business or field related to the position
  • Minimum three years' experience in assisted living, Alzheimer’s or Memory Loss Care
  • Experience in Residential Care Management, Clinical Director, or Risk Management
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Performs a thorough health assessment on all new residents upon admission.
  • Monitors the health status of all current residents through assessments, evaluations, and care conferences.
  • Enters resident assessments, evaluations, and care plans into the approved software document.
  • Monitors staff compliance with resident care plans, initiating actions to improve resident health status.
  • Reads alert charting from daily reports, including medication side effects, activities, meals, complaints, cognition and behaviors, ADLs, and special requests.
  • Reacts immediately to suspend resident abuse, including thorough investigation and notification of appropriate parties.
  • Screens, hires, trains, and supervises all Medication Technicians.
  • Manages poor performance, coaches to improve skills, manages activities to correspond to care plans, and ensures appropriate documentation and compliance with human resource guidelines.
  • Assures that all staff maintain appropriate annual training to keep up with state requirements.
  • Performs all scheduling and handles call-outs for Caregivers and Med Techs.
  • Assists the Health Services Director in ensuring a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activity in the building.
  • Assists in identifying and setting priorities in resolving service-related issues.
  • Ensures CQI activities within the community meet Arcadia Senior Living's goal of quarterly meetings and documents plans to improve quality.
  • Provides additional areas of CQI focus through clinical audits.
  • Supports the Health Services Director in maintaining compliance with all local, state, and federal and licensing rules and regulations associated with the licensure of the building as they pertain to clinical and risk management activities.
  • Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner and that unsafe actions are managed.
  • Ensures compliance with Safety Committee standards.
  • Follows all procedures for treatment, investigation, return to work, and management of injured workers, communication with care providers and Arcadia Senior Living when workplace injuries occur.
  • Fosters teamwork with co-workers, shows initiative in overcoming obstacles, takes actions to assist others beyond job responsibilities, and has a positive impact on co-workers, residents and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
