About The Position

The Assistant Head Track Coach-Boys is responsible for establishing and maintaining a competitive track program in accordance with the Little Rock School District's goals and objectives. This position involves full-time teaching responsibilities in addition to coaching duties. The coach will guide student athletes in developing the necessary skills for success in track and field, while adhering to all district, state, and Arkansas Activities Association regulations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree minimum.
  • A valid Arkansas teacher’s license.
  • Must meet State Department of Education requirements for coaching endorsement.
  • Must meet Arkansas Activities Association requirements for coaches.
  • Evidence of strong commitment to quality education.
  • Ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period.
  • Ability to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write.
  • Accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a competitive track program.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life.
  • Develop and maintain reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport.
  • Adhere to District, State, and Arkansas Activities Association’s regulations regarding eligibility of players.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
