About The Position

The Assistant Head of School serves as the assistant and support leader for all day-to-day school operations at The Fuller Academy. This role assists with the administration, supervision, and coordination of the school’s overall functions, including student and staff recruitment, enrollment management, and retention efforts. The Assistant Head of School supports all phases of instructional leadership by assisting with educational programming, curriculum implementation, school operations, and administrative responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include assisting with budget planning and oversight, student discipline, counseling services, staff supervision, and promoting a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that supports the mission and goals of the Academy. (Grades K - 4)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Education
  • preferred School Administrator License
  • At least 5 years of teaching or School Administration experience (required)
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to effectively administer multifaceted operations.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable local, state, and federal education laws, regulations, policies, and requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of instructional methodology.
  • Problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to create, understand, and implement budgets and budgeting practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Legally able to work in the United States via e-Verify.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Education
  • School Administrator License
  • familiarity with PROCARE is a plus
  • Additional language proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Russian or Creole is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the daily management of the school and front office operations.
  • Assists with supporting educators by conducting periodic observations and contributing to evaluations in accordance with the school calendar.
  • Assists with providing additional training, coaching, and guidance for teachers based on classroom observations and evaluation outcomes.
  • Assists with Human Resources in the hiring and onboarding of faculty and staff and supports staff coaching, corrective action, and dismissal processes, as necessary.
  • Assists with monitoring and supporting staff performance.
  • Assists with ensuring a productive learning environment through ongoing collaboration with teachers, students, parents, and staff.
  • Assists with weekly classroom observations focused on instruction, classroom management, and organization.
  • Supports the delivery of professional development and technical assistance to teachers and clerical staff.
  • Assists the Head of School with instructional development strategies and provides leadership and technical support to teachers and teacher assistants in developmentally appropriate, standards-based instruction, program implementation, supervision, and evaluation.
  • Assists with fostering connections with students and families by being present during arrival and dismissal, attending school functions, and participating in student meetings.
  • Assists with enforcing student disciplinary policies and procedures.
  • Participates in parent, teacher, and student meetings and conferences to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Assists with representing the Academy at community activities and meetings, as needed.
  • Supports the development of positive relationships with the community school network, community organizations, and leaders.
  • Collaborates with other Center Directors and educators within the Fuller Center to support student recruitment efforts.
  • Assists with monitoring student academic achievement in alignment with school goals.
  • Assists with planning and facilitating staff meetings.
  • Assists with ensuring completion and accuracy of required documentation, including attendance, assessments, tuition reimbursement, meal counts, licensing records, and school reports.
  • Assists with ensuring proper maintenance of technology, supplies, and school property.
  • Supports the allocation and oversight of supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with implementing the school budget and curriculum.
  • Assists with tracking staff attendance, leave, punctuality, and coverage needs.
  • Assists with preparing monthly reports for the Chief Program Officer.
  • Assists with providing quarterly updates to the Marketing Director regarding school events and accomplishments.
  • Supports coordination of monthly and annual calendars across both Centers (East and West).
  • Assists with managing school communications through Procare and other technology platforms.
  • Assists with coordinating and conducting monthly fire drills, lockdown drills, active shooter drills, and other required safety trainings.
  • Assists with maintaining compliant and up-to-date student records.
  • Supports accuracy of Procare and school systems data related to students and families.
  • Monitor the cafeteria at lunch times and recesses to help monitor behavior.
  • Participate weekly grade level team meetings to coordinate trips, activities, and materials.
