About The Position

The Assistant Grocery Manager helps customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service while managing and leading the grocery team. The role assists the Grocery Manager with department management and merchandising to maximize productivity and profit, and is responsible for ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and team supervision. The position coordinates merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork. It also supports hiring, teaching, training, and developing team members; unloads and sorts store deliveries; and ensures the team follows company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

The posted schedule is Monday and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; Thursday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; and Tuesday and Saturday off. Sprouts anticipates requiring coverage of these hours for three months. The role requires flexibility as business needs change, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have 1–3 years of retail management experience.
• Must be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to give and take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Must demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
• Must have proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff.
• Must have working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Must have strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills.
• Must have strong organization and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per 8 hours.
• Must vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs. from 9 inches to 62 inches for up to 25 hours.
• Must vertically and horizontally transfer boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. from 5 inches to 34 inches, for a distance of up to 5 feet, for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Must repetitively squat, kneel, and bend to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours.
