About The Position

Cornerstone Co-op is hiring an Assistant Grocery Manager to help lead our Grocery Team at our Food Store in St. Paul, Alberta. This full-time leadership role reports to the Grocery Manager. We need you to lead outstanding Co-op experiences.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education combined with experience in retail grocery or leadership would be considered an asset.
  • You possess strong leadership skills and enjoy coaching and developing a team.
  • You can successfully complete required background checks, including a Criminal Record Check and credit check.
  • You have a valid Class-5 driver’s license and can provide a satisfactory 5-year standard driver’s abstract.
  • You are able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs. Loads exceeding 50 lbs will be managed with lifting equipment or assistance in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • You are action oriented, customer focused and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and can manage files and administrative documentation.
  • You are honest, trustworthy, results-driven and strive for excellence in your work.
  • You believe in building relationships and collaborating with others to achieve shared goals.
  • You are customer-focused and passionate about delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Engage and interact with member-owners and customers to provide outstanding Co-op experiences and resolve any customer concerns with professionalism.
  • Assist with all Grocery department operations including ordering, receiving, inventory management, merchandising and shrink control.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Plan and execute promotions, displays and marketing initiatives to drive sales and achieve departmental targets.
  • Monitor and meet department goals related to sales and margin through efficient planning and execution.
  • Lead and support the Grocery team with scheduling, coaching, training and performance management.
  • Assist annual planning, goal setting, budgeting, and talent management processes for the Grocery department.
  • Complete required administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner, including inspections and reporting.
  • Be actively out on the sales floor leading by example and supporting team workflow.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays on a rotational basis.
  • Demonstrate day-to-day behaviours and actions that align with and strengthen the Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, brand and focus on safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
