About The Position

Assistant Graphic Designer needed to help manage and tag graphic library, as well as create simple graphics for course content using Adobe tools such as Illustrator and Photoshop. The Assistant Graphic Designer will be using Berklee’s content management system Air to tag and manage graphic assets so that they can be found easily and reused in new courses. The Assistant Graphic Designer will be required to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to assist in creating content for courses. Said content can be everything from a simple line graph, to a diagram of a studio, to vector icons representing various objects/ideas. The Assistant Graphic Designer will deliver graphics via Google Drive in the correct file format, naming conventions and folder structure. The Assistant Graphic Designer will meet once a week during business hours to discuss workload, deadlines and necessary edits to created graphics. They must be available at least 5 hours of the work week to have these meetings and answer Slack messages/emails. As this is a remote position, the remaining 5 hours of work are flexible to your schedule.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program (or meet summer employment exception).
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (first-semester students are exempt).
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Some artistic experience or knowledge of graphic design (digital art, logo design, vector icon creation, typography, and/or general ability to create artistic representations of objects/ideas).
  • Good organization and communication skills.
  • Familiar with using Google tools (calendar, email, sheets and drive).
  • Ability to follow instructions well and adhere to Berklee design guidelines.
  • Know the difference between a png, jpg, svg and a pdf file format.
  • A drive to learn new artistic skills, tools, and applications.
  • A creative mind.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge or experience with Adobe programs, especially Illustrator and the pen tool.
  • Experience with similar free versions of said tools (such as Gimp, Procreate, Affinity, Inkscape etc.).
