About The Position

The Assistant Grounds Technician is responsible for assisting in the daily maintenance and upkeep of the club’s golf course, landscaped areas, and surrounding grounds. This role involves hands-on work with turf care, landscaping, irrigation systems, and equipment maintenance to ensure the club maintains the highest quality playing conditions for members and guests. The Assistant Grounds Technician works closely with the Director of Grounds and other team members to execute daily maintenance tasks efficiently.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and grounds maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Must be available to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by the club’s schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping is preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • This person must present a neat appearance and have a warm, cheerful personality. Tact and good judgment are especially beneficial characteristics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, edging, and raking to maintain golf course conditions and overall club grounds.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, including troubleshooting leaks and ensuring proper water distribution.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other turf treatments as directed by the Director of Grounds and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and aerators.
  • Assist in bunker maintenance, including raking, edging, and refilling sand as needed.
  • Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on golf course and grounds equipment.
  • Assist with tree and shrub care, including pruning, planting, and removal when necessary.
  • Set up and remove golf course accessories such as tee markers, flags, and ropes as needed.
  • Ensure all work areas, equipment, and maintenance facilities are clean and organized.
  • Respond to weather-related grounds maintenance needs, including storm clean-up and frost protection.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
