About The Position

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for organizing precise programs for the application of all pesticides, maintaining Audubon Certified Status for the golf course, and practicing sound agronomic principles. This role involves assisting in the selection of equipment and the establishment of national buying programs, while maintaining all appropriate documentation such as spray logs. The Superintendent identifies annual capital expenditure needs through budget processes, creates annual budgets tailored to the golf course's specific needs, and is responsible for inventory control. They plan and establish cost-effective work schedules for personnel, and are responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training crew members, including planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining staff, and addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position provides leadership and motivation for all crew members, establishes overseeding programs, and communicates regularly with management, golf staff, and members. Additionally, the role includes safety responsibilities such as providing leadership, communication, training, support, and attention to safety programs, systems, and techniques. It also involves setting budgets, goals, and objectives for the continuous monitoring and improvement of safety programs, performing risk assessments, and taking personal responsibility for safety daily.

Requirements

  • BS or Associates degree in Agronomy or Turf Grass Management or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in all phases of golf course management
  • Knowledge of financial forecasting for a golf course operation
  • GA Pesticide License
  • Ability to lead and motivate team

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training crew members; planning, assigning, and direction or work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Provides leadership and motivation for all crew members
  • Establishes overseeding programs
  • Communicates regularly with management, golf staff and members
  • Provides leadership, communication, training, support and attention to safety programs, systems and techniques
  • Sets budget, goals and objectives for continued monitoring and improvement of safety programs
  • Performs risk assessment as part of decision and problem solving process
  • Takes personal responsibility for safety every day
