About The Position

The Assistant Golf Coach plays a vital role in supporting the Olympic College Athletic Department and the Division of Student Development and Engagement. This position contributes to the success of the golf program by providing instruction in technical skills, course strategy, and competitive performance, while fostering leadership, discipline, and personal growth among student-athletes. Working under the direction of the Head Coach and Athletic Director, the Assistant Golf Coach helps ensure the effective execution of practices, match preparation, and player development. Responsibilities include assisting with practice planning, providing individual and team instruction, supporting recruitment efforts, and promoting a positive team culture aligned with the values of Olympic College. The Assistant Golf Coach enhances the overall student-athlete experience by emphasizing academic achievement, wellness, sportsmanship, and inclusive engagement. This position supports the college’s commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes both on and off the course.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated involvement in golf or related sport at a competitive level (e.g., collegiate, club, or high school), including personal athletic experience and/or coaching, instruction, or leadership roles.
  • Experience supporting team or program operations such as scheduling, logistics, compliance, or resource coordination.
  • Experience working with or mentoring student-athletes or peers in an athletic, educational, or team-based environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a team setting.
  • Technical knowledge of golf fundamentals (e.g., swing mechanics, short game, course management) or relevant sport-specific skills, including training and competition preparation.
  • Basic understanding of institutional, conference, and federal compliance expectations, including Title IX principles.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and engage with diverse student populations.
  • Commitment to student success, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on holistic development and well-being.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team culture and uphold the values and mission of Olympic College Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of practice plans focused on swing mechanics, short game, course management, and competitive performance
  • Supporting match preparation, travel coordination, and overall program logistics
  • Assisting with recruitment efforts by identifying, evaluating, and communicating with prospective student-athletes
  • Monitoring academic progress and promoting the holistic development of student-athletes, including leadership, sportsmanship, and wellness
  • Ensuring compliance with NWAC, institutional, and athletic department policies and regulations
  • Collaborating with the Head Coach to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
  • Contributing to program promotion through social media, community outreach, and event support
  • Participating in departmental initiatives and student engagement activities
