About The Position

The Assistant Coach, Men's Golf reports directly to the Head Coach and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of running a Division I Men's Golf program. This includes game preparation, teaching and coaching, planning and execution of team practice, recruitment and retention of student-athletes, program administration, academic integrity, and donor/alumni public relations. The Assistant Coach must adhere to all conference and NCAA regulations to ensure departmental compliance. The role involves fostering a competitive, inclusive, and values-driven team culture, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for student-athletes, and providing mentorship for their personal and professional growth. Collaboration with academic, compliance, athletic training, sports performance, sports psychology, and nutrition staff is essential. The position also supports fundraising and external efforts, acting as a representative of the University.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the sport of Men's Golf.
  • Thorough understanding of NCAA regulations and policies related to managing a Division I program.
  • Understanding and support of the Jesuit tradition of education and a commitment to the fundamental values of service to others, community, and diversity.
  • Strong, positive communication skills as a coach and as a member of the Department of Athletics.
  • Ability to monitor expenses with concern for fiscal responsibility and restricted resources.
  • Ability to positively interact with student-athletes, students, coaches, administrators, and staff.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years coaching experience at the Division I level required.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.

  • International coaching experience preferred.
  • Position may be asked to demonstrate or be involved in athletic activities.
  • May be required to tour the campus with students.

  • Recruit student-athletes within admissions, financial, and regulatory standards.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to design effective drills.
  • Assist in managing administrative functions related to the Men's Golf program.
  • Collaborate with academic and compliance services staff.
  • Collaborate with athletic training, sports performance, sports psychology, and nutrition staff.
  • Adhere to all administrative procedures established by the University and Athletics Department.
  • Coordinate scheduling, including contests and facility usage.
  • Support fundraising and external efforts, including donor and alumni engagement.
  • Serve as a representative of the University.
  • Oversee the program's recruiting efforts.
  • Develop and implement a structured, compliant recruiting system.
  • Ensure all recruiting activities align with NCAA regulations, University and Athletics Department policies.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of financial aid policies and their application.
  • Stay educated on the evolving landscape of intercollegiate athletics, including NIL opportunities, potential revenue-sharing models, and regulatory changes.
  • Assist the Head Coach in maintaining fiscal responsibility by managing the program's budget.
  • Partner with the Athletics Business Office to promote responsible financial management.
  • Abide by all conference, department, and NCAA regulations.
  • Attend all compliance seminars and reviews.
  • Attend departmental coaches’ meetings.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
