About The Position

Bob's Steak & Chop House is seeking an Assistant General Manager to join their team at the Omni Nashville Hotel. This role involves supporting the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, managing staff, controlling costs, and ensuring guest satisfaction in a high-volume, upscale steakhouse environment. Requirements

  • 2-years restaurant management experience.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to train, develop, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to teach employees importance of, and how to interact with internal/external guests and courteously solve internal requests.
  • Ability to train a staff to produce high volumes of work while maintaining quality per Omni and Bob’s standards.
  • Ability to set priorities for the Bob’s team and provide feedback to others that enhances performance.
  • Prior experience managing schedules, payroll, service recovery and associate relations matters required.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers, both in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment.
  • Must be proficient with computers.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing a high volume of orders and guest requests.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and provide guest follow up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Requires repetitive motion.
  • May work both indoors and outdoors.

Nice To Haves

  • Upscale steak house management experience is strongly preferred however other fine dining and/or hotel food & beverage leadership experience will be considered.
  • Possess an unexpired or have the ability to obtain a State of Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission server permit.

Responsibilities

  • Follow, enforce, comply and adhere to all Bob’s Steak & Chop House rules, policies, procedures, standards and recipes at all times.
  • Assume all GM roles and responsibilities in his/her absence.
  • Work closely with GM on Labor/Sales Forecasting.
  • Assist with Budget Preparation.
  • Assist GM with Cost Controls and implementation.
  • Assist GM with the Profitability and Flow Through.
  • Write an Action Plan for Controlling Costs.
  • Oversee Staff Accountability.
  • Direct Operational Communication with HR and Hotel GM.
  • Manage Management Scheduling and PTO approvals.
  • Oversee the Daily Operations.
  • Responsible for assigned shift, assisting in overall management.
  • Supervise and coordinate assigned shift.
  • Assist in overall supervision of the department as outlined in manager's job description.
  • Check staff punctuality.
  • Complete environmental checklist for dining room (Ensure music levels and lighting at proper levels.).
  • Spot check liquor pars.
  • Order daily supplies.
  • Hold pre-meal meetings.
  • Follow up on established training steps.
  • Handle guest comments and complaints.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Stay on the floor during peak hours.
  • Communicate with guests and receive feedback.
  • Observe, teach, and correct staff's service.
  • Monitor each guest experience.
  • Examine food preparation.
  • Examine beverage presentation.
  • Assist manager in scheduling, forecasting weekly and monthly, and completing weekly payroll.
  • Participate in interviewing new employees.
  • Prepare maintenance requests and follow-up.
  • Monitor food and liquor requisitions, food waste, and labor and payroll costs.
  • Check bar controls, shot glass use, red lining, and bottles totally empty.
  • Adhere to all liquor liability laws: Dram Shop Act - Prohibiting the sale/service of alcohol to intoxicated guests and minors.
  • Know emergency procedures (including CPR) and work to prevent accidents.
