About The Position

This position supports the General Manager in the direction, coordination, and day-to-day management of Fleet Servicing operations at the Juneau Airport. The Assistant General Manager assists with supervising personnel, supporting operational efficiency, maintaining customer/client communication, promoting safety, and ensuring compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and applicable regulations. The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager to oversee assigned employees and operational activities, assist with administrative and business reporting functions, support employee relations, and help identify solutions to operational challenges. This position may provide leadership coverage and act on behalf of the General Manager as needed to ensure continuity of operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience directly related to the assigned area.
  • At least six months to one year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a similar setting.
  • Must be able to obtain a GSC certification within six months from the date of hire.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and general business software programs.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other business software programs.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Thorough knowledge of managing, planning, and organizing assigned operational activities, with the ability to address related technical matters.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and support operational decisions in alignment with company policies and leadership direction.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required airport badging or security clearance, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to those with two years of related training in a college, vocational, or technical school.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing and managing the business activities of Fleet Servicing operations to support efficient and economical operations.
  • Support the General Manager in overseeing fleet, and janitorial employees as assigned.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, direction, and support to assigned staff.
  • Help maintain strong customer/client communications to support efficient problem resolution and acceptance of new services or programs.
  • Support and participate in a comprehensive safety program and promote a safe work environment.
  • Perform and coordinate general administrative and office tasks to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, company policies, contract requirements, and sound business practices.
  • Prepare, monitor, and review business reports, including sales reports, inventory reports, budget reports, operational reports, and other related documentation.
  • Assist with employee-related matters, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance feedback, employee concerns, documentation, PANs, and other employment processes in collaboration with the General Manager.
  • Help identify effective solutions to business and operational problems.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving work-related issues.
  • Assist in ensuring that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of assigned employees are clearly defined and understood.
  • Monitor and support staff training activities to improve efficiency and ensure conformance with standard procedures and practices.
  • Help ensure assigned equipment is maintained in compliance with service standards.
  • Demonstrate professional leadership in communication, operational efficiency, change management, decision-making, and problem solving.
  • Provide supervision and leadership coverage as needed and may represent the General Manager in their absence.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.
