We are currently seeking an Assistant Hotel General Manager who will be responsible for all front desk operations and food and beverage operations in order to ensure that the highest quality standards are met for food, service, cleanliness, and marketing of all hotel operations. This key team member will share in the responsibility for all hotel operations and provide superior service and value to hotel guests at the TownePlace Suites in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 3 years hotel operations or restaurant management experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with both internal and external customers, as well as provide strong leadership to hotel operations team
  • Strong organization, communication (verbal and written) and time management skills are essential
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays required
  • Valid Driver's License required

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in hospitality or restaurant management preferred
  • Food Handler Certificate, preferred
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the selection, training and development of all front desk personnel, breakfast host/hostess and security/night audit positions.
  • Assists the General Manager in ensuring the fair and ethical treatment of all co-workers and the maintenance of high morale and low turnover in all departments of the hotel.
  • Handles all normal tasks associated with those of a Front Desk co-worker regarding check-ins, checkout procedures, reservations, guest folio inquiries, and problem resolution.
  • Presents a helpful, courteous, friendly image to guests and makes an effort to speak to every guest by name.
  • Responsible for the inventory control, replenishment, physical appearance, and ordering of food product for 'The Market" at Marriott properties and the "Suite Shops" at Hilton properties.
  • Maximizes room revenue and occupancy levels through suggestive selling.
  • Utilizes computer equipment to analyze forecast, cost, and revenue reports and makes decisions based on that information to ensure profit maximization.
  • Accurately handles Company or Brand marketing programs and properly presents the programs to the guests with a special focus on the Brand loyalty programs and incentives.
  • Responsible to ensure Front Desk is fully staffed at all times, through assignment of co-workers or self to provide coverage.
  • Ensures through monthly inventory count that adequate equipment and office supply resources are maintained to maximize co- worker performance and customer service levels.
  • Ensures that all monies due High Hotels are received on a timely basis.
  • Handles all departmental accounting of monies, receipts, guest accounts and other forms of credit in accordance with all High Hotels accounts receivable policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, pleasant and professional image to the guest.
  • Represents the Hotel as the manager on duty during those hours that the General Manager is not on Property or otherwise not capable of doing so.
  • Assists in documenting and maintaining records for periodic appraisal of all front desk, breakfast/pantry and night audit/security personnel.
  • Assists in monitoring and enforcing all Company and brand policies, procedures, rules and regulations affecting all hotel activities to ensure the safety and security of all guests, co-workers and hotel assets. This includes those associated with the hotel’s security and emergency practices.
  • Provides assistance to other co-workers to contribute to the smooth operation of the front desk and other departments as needed; specifically, coffee bar cleans up, assisting hostess, typing, filing, faxing and copying.
  • Ensures attendance complies with the standards, including the ability to work a varied schedule as required.
  • Assists General Manager in reviewing work schedules required to meet the business needs of the hotel and monitoring and enforcing attendance policies.
  • Complies with Company and Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
  • Mentors and trains new and current co-workers at the front desk.
  • Assists the GM in establishing plans for continuous improvement of the front desk guest satisfaction scores to ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Supports High Hotels' efforts and actions related to sustainability, ensuring implementation and compliance within the front desk and breakfast/pantry areas.
  • May coordinate Hilton Honors and 3rd booking parties posting and reconciliation.
  • Ensures proper communication between shifts (logbook) as well as bank reconciliation at the end of the shift.
