About The Position

The Assistant General Manager at Goldfish Swim School of Rochester, MN, is responsible for overseeing the quality and success of daily operations, including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and vending, private party operations, and employee activities. This role involves directing daily operations to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, managing staff for high productivity and satisfaction, and training the aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction. The position also involves gaining knowledge in bookings, scheduling, reporting, and administrative functions, initiating employee activities to improve satisfaction, and maintaining professional development in aquatics and management. The work environment is regularly exposed to heat and humidity with moderate noise levels. The role is exempt and reports to the General Manager.

Requirements

  • Prior sales experience
  • Ability to work with children
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • Must pass background examinations (included with training)
  • Be able to successfully complete Lifeguard training and obtain certification
  • Some travel required
  • Must Work weekends
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required.
  • CPR/AED and first Aid certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Aquatic Management Experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Two or more years management experience preferred.
  • Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.
  • Shallow water attendant highly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures.
  • Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
  • Trains and oversees aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS.
  • Gains knowledge and experience in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
  • Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities (“Fun” Department) with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.
  • Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
  • Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.
