The Assistant General Manager will coordinate hotel personnel activities as directed and provide support to the General Manager. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or similar degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hotel operations experience to include knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of federal, state, and municipal authority
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be flexible to work varied schedules
  • Ability to delegate and direct the activities of the team to ensure efficient operation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must have the physical ability to walk, bend, and stand for long time periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to express compassion while remaining composed; ability to remain calm and focused while working under pressure
  • Promote the property by demonstrating a “top-notch†attitude toward our guests which includes anticipating the guests needs – be proactive

  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry

Responsibilities

  • Assigns duties to staff and observes performance to ensure adherence to hotel policies and established operating procedures
  • Provides training, including safety training, to staff
  • Selects or assists in the selection of hotel staff and completes all new hire paperwork
  • Reviews employee performance and conducts personnel actions such as disciplinary actions and terminations
  • Maintains accurate records including cash flow sheet, direct bill accounts, credit card receipts, registration cards, reservation cards, direct bills, credit cards, and tax exempt.
  • Conducts or assists in conducting staff meetings
  • Adheres to all franchise and company procedures and regulations as well as standard operating procedures
  • Receives and resolves or assists in resolving guest complaints and employee issues
  • Performs functions of the General Manager in their absence
  • Available 24/7 with reliable transportation
  • Covers shifts in all departments as scheduled by the General Manager
  • Corresponds with group and travel agents to answer special requests for rooms and rates
  • Assists with sales and marketing efforts as directed
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services
  • Assists General Manager in annual wage scale surveys; ensures employee wages follow wage and salary guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned
