About The Position

The Assistant General Manager oversees the operations of the hotel, ensuring the hotel continues to deliver the vision it represents by providing outstanding service to all guests and team members, while maximizing the returns to all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of managerial experience in hotel operations.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and understanding of when tact and discretion are necessary to handle both team member and guest issues.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication.
  • Ability to deal with all levels of management and staff in a professional manner.
  • Assist the Regional General Manager in producing hotel forecast by accurate projection of room related revenue and expenses.
  • Keep central reservations updated on hotel facilities/special promotions to maximize revenues.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Team player and proven leader with a hands-on approach.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail skills. Proven leadership qualities.
  • Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now payroll systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Hotel or post-secondary degree/diploma an asset.
  • Proficient/familiarity with Choice Advantage would be an asset.
  • Night audit experience an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and rooms inventory management.
  • Develop, prepare, execute & achieve financial goals.
  • Represents the hotel in the absence of the Regional General Manager.
  • Manages all aspects of the Front Office (Night Audit), Housekeeping and Maintenance. Assist in the operation of all departments.
  • Candidate must become fully proficient in all Brand standards and take all appropriate courses.
  • Ensures brand standards are maintained at all times, while maintaining a professional and supervisory demeanor at all times, setting an example of leadership for all staff.
  • Monitors and maintains the Front Office, guest accounting and reservations to consistently meet company standards.
  • Passion for customer service and strong commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the supervision, recruitment, selection, training and development of Guest Services and housekeeping personnel, to ensure their tasks are performed efficiently. Instructs and trains staff to follow safe working practices.
  • Coaches and develops skills of all front office staff to the best of their potential. Assure outstanding Guest Experience.
  • Recommends, develops and implements staff incentives designed to increase revenues.
  • Ensures that staff is fully knowledgeable on all hotel facilities, daily functions, current hotel promotions, as well as local activities within the city.
  • Ensure completion of weekly team working schedules.
  • Act on guest feedback and ensure that corrective action is taken to ensure 100% guest satisfaction. To promote a Service Empowerment Philosophy within the team and the hotel.
  • Enforce all company policies & procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with health, safety, fire and emergency regulations throughout the hotel.
  • Understands and works in accordance with health and safety mandates.
  • Work with the Housekeeping staff to ensure the hotels guest rooms and public areas exhibit the high level of cleanliness our guests expect and deserve.
  • Work with the Maintenance staff to ensure a strong level of maintenance upkeep throughout the hotel and compliance with preventive maintenance procedure and policies of the hotel.
  • Assists Regional General Manager as directed with development of special reports and/or special projects.
  • Administers and maintains all uniforms and inventories, including printed materials.
  • Manager on Duty shifts are required. Oversee day-to-day operations.
  • Must be available days, evenings, weekend and holidays.
  • Duties associated with the Assistant General Manager’s position including but not limited to the above.
