About The Position

Two Assistant General Manager positions each own day-to-day execution at one of the division's two maintenance shops – 19th Street or the Rental Car Center (RCC). The AGM runs the shop across all three shifts, directing lead technicians and the technician workforce (12 technicians at 19th Street; 14 at RCC), and is accountable for that shop's PM production, down-bus count, road-call response, and repair quality. The AGM is the primary escalation point for service disruptions affecting bus availability and ensures planned schedules match actual shop output every day. EcoFleet is a leading fleet management company specializing in commercial and airport fleet operations, providing maintenance, leasing, washing, and fueling services nationwide. In joint venture with LAZ Parking, EcoFleet operates the stand-alone maintenance division supporting the consolidated bussing services contract at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) – a fleet of approximately 195 transit buses, cutaways, and support vehicles across CNG, diesel, gasoline, and EV platforms.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success supervising multi-shift maintenance operations for transit buses or comparable heavy fleets.
  • Hands-on technical fluency across diesel, CNG, gasoline, and EV/HV platforms; able to diagnose alongside technicians and make repair-priority calls.
  • Experience with VMS work-order systems (Fleetio preferred) and telematics (Samsara or comparable).
  • Strong scheduling and workforce management skills in a 24/7 environment; calm, decisive under pull-out pressure.
  • Working knowledge of DOT/TxDMV inspection requirements and OSHA shop safety.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license; must pass a federal background check and DFW airport badging requirements.
  • 7+ years of fleet or transit maintenance experience, including 3+ years supervising technicians (shop foreman, maintenance supervisor, or shop manager).
  • ASE certifications required: two or more of H-series (Transit Bus) or T-series (Medium/Heavy Truck); ASE Master (H or T) preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain within 90 days – company paid) preferred.
  • Cummins ISB engine and Allison transmission experience preferred; EV high-voltage and/or CNG fuel system certification a strong plus.
  • Associate's or technical degree.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all shop operations across three shifts: technician assignments, shift transitions, PM line scheduling, and priority repair sequencing to protect morning pull-out.
  • Supervise lead technicians and hold each shift accountable for PM compliance, down-bus count, safety performance, and work order accuracy in Fleetio.
  • Manage staffing coverage – attendance, overtime, vacation planning, and call-off response – so required wrench-turning hours are met without service degradation.
  • Serve as first escalation for road calls, breakdowns, and shop disruptions; coordinate wrecker/towing dispatch and field response using division service trucks and vans.
  • Drive repair quality: enforce root-cause repair standards over patch-and-return fixes, review comebacks and repeat repairs with the Training/QA Manager, and quality-check completed work.
  • Partner with the Parts Manager and fleet/parts clerks to keep parts support aligned to shop production; flag min/max gaps before they idle a bay.
  • Ensure DOT/TxDMV inspection currency, PM cycle adherence (PMA/PMI), and complete, accurate service documentation for airport and internal audits.
  • Enforce shop safety: lockout/tagout, lift operations, HV/EV safety protocols, CNG handling, and housekeeping standards.
  • Develop technicians: coach C-to-B-to-A progression, identify certification candidates, and build the internal lead pipeline.

Benefits

  • GM track – AGMs are the succession pool for General Manager roles at DFW and across the growing EcoFleet/LAZ portfolio.
  • Advanced training – OEM factory training (Cummins, Allison, Eldorado, Arboc, BYD/EV) and paid certifications to stay current across all fleet platforms.
  • Autonomy – full operational ownership of your shop, with the GM and national resources behind you.
