About The Position

The Assistant General Counsel position will work in the Office of General Counsel to provide legal advice and counsel to the leaders of Appalachian State University.

Requirements

  • Admitted to the North Carolina bar or admitted to the bar of another state and prepared to seek immediate admission in North Carolina within one year of the date of employment.
  • High ethical standards, including a strong work ethic, honesty, and integrity.
  • Ability to identify and resolve legal issues.
  • Commitment to the support and fulfillment of the university’s mission.

  • Focused experience in IT/ITS-related services.
  • Focused experience in contract review and drafting (particularly for higher education or governmental clients).
  • Focused experience in Research, Intellectual Property, Sponsored Programs, and Regulatory Compliance.
