Requirements

  • JD required and membership in good standing with at least one state bar.
  • Minimum 5 years’ labor and employment counseling and litigation experience in law firm or significant in-house counsel experience preferred.
  • Background and experience in labor and employment related healthcare regulations strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to identify risk and simplify complex legal issues for the business in a clear and concise manner.
  • Exceptional critical thinking ability, with strong business acumen and excellent business judgment.
  • Demonstrated history of partnering and influencing business decisions and providing strategic recommendations based on relevant data and analyses.
  • Problem resolution and analytical skills and the ability to interact well with all organizational levels.
  • Strong leadership skills and willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters and execute proactively.
  • Strong personal ethical code and integrity and deep respect for privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel and be on-site to meet business needs.
  • Internet Connectivity - Min Speeds: 3.8Mbps/3.0Mbps (up/down): Latency <60 ms.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on employment law issues including workplace investigations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, accommodations, compensation, benefits, and recruiting.
  • Collaborate with the People Team and business leaders to design compliant, scalable employment practices.
  • Provide support and oversight of employment litigation, mediations, EEOC matters, and arbitration, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour matters.
  • Draft and advise on human resources related policy creation and implementation.
  • Stay updated on employment related legal and compliance topics to effectively mitigate risks.
  • Provide guidance regarding the entire employment lifecycle, including hiring, on-boarding, performance management, investigations of alleged employee misconduct and/or policy violations, and terminations.
  • Prepare documents and contracts related to employment terms and conditions.
  • Recommend, implement, and continuously improve employment law related training.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with labor and employment related suppliers and vendors.
  • Assist in the selection and management of external legal counsel to ensure appropriate service and quality levels and to contain costs.
  • Support organizational initiatives such as compensation programs, restructurings, and cross-functional investigations.
