About The Position

Public Storage is seeking a highly experienced, business-minded legal professional to provide strategic legal advice to business leaders on marketing, advertising, revenue management, pricing, and other consumer-facing matters. The role partners with business units on compliance, risk mitigation, customer issues, and legal operations, including budget management and reporting. The successful candidate will be a proactive legal partner, experienced leader, decisive negotiator, efficient multitasker, and project manager.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to a state bar in good standing, with the ability to practice law as in-house counsel in Texas.
Over 10 years of legal experience focused on marketing, pricing, and general business counseling.
Strong subject-matter expertise and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency in legal research and writing.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Demonstrated responsiveness and commitment to clients and problem-solving.
High level of discretion, maturity, and ethical integrity.
Process-minded approach, respect for existing processes, and ability to identify efficiencies and enhancements.
Ability to coordinate across business units while considering the broader business context.

Responsibilities

Advise on advertising and omnichannel marketing campaigns, including regulatory requirements and litigation risks; review marketing copy, promotional materials, and digital content before launch.
Advise on consumer protection, endorsements and testimonials, and truth-in-advertising requirements across traditional, digital, and social channels.
Provide legal counsel on revenue management and pricing initiatives, including dynamic and promotional pricing strategies.
Support development and rollout of pricing tools, models, and algorithms to help ensure alignment with consumer protection and fair-pricing laws.
Advise on legal and regulatory requirements for customer communications and call center operations, including TCPA, call recording and monitoring laws, and state-specific requirements.
Review and approve customer service scripts, escalation procedures, and complaint-handling protocols for legal and regulatory compliance.
Advise on customer-facing products, services, and operational initiatives, including rental terms and disclosures, fees and payment practices, promotions, customer communications, digital and e-commerce experiences, and other consumer-facing practices.
Provide strategic legal advice and risk mitigation guidance to marketing, advertising, and revenue management teams.
Monitor legal developments and best practices relevant to company operations; partner with cross-functional teams on business initiatives and projects.
Advise senior leadership on legal and business strategies and provide training and guidance to business partners on legal and compliance matters.
Advise on and implement policies and practices supporting compliance with federal, state, and local laws; collaborate with internal departments on compliance initiatives and risk mitigation.
Develop employee training programs on legal and regulatory requirements, especially in marketing, advertising, and consumer protection.
Monitor legal expenditures, assist with legal department budget management, and prepare P&L and other legal activity reports.
Manage internal and external support effectively and efficiently, including attorneys, paralegals, and consultants.
