About The Position

This trainee position is designed for someone ready to grow into greater Garden Center leadership responsibility. In this role, you will help lead the Orders Desk in our newly renovated Pro Center, coordinate sales orders and deliveries, support wholesale relationships, and keep daily Garden Center operations moving smoothly. You will be a go-to resource for the team when managers are unavailable and will build leadership experience through hands-on training in customer service, order fulfillment, communication, delegation, and operational oversight. Brownswood Nursery is Charleston's largest nursery and design-build firm. We offer a complete line of services from growing to landscape design and installation to maintenance. Requirements

  • Ability to oversee staff, delegate appropriately, and follow responsibilities through to completion
  • Ability to learn point-of-sale systems and communicate confidently through phone, email, and online tools
  • Honesty, diligence, and a strong work ethic

  • Knowledge of plants, their care needs, and Garden Center organization preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service in person, by phone, and through email
  • Oversee the Orders Desk, including the proper handling and accuracy of sales orders, work orders, deliveries, pickups, voicemail, and availability requests
  • Prioritize daily customer needs and coordinate the pulling and preparation of sold plant material
  • Work with Receiving to verify incoming quantities and quality and prepare sold material for proper placement
  • Ensure opening, ongoing, and closing procedures are completed accurately and on time
  • Follow up on open sales orders, wholesale applications, and scheduled wholesale outreach
  • Serve as a point person for Garden Center staff and help delegate work when managers are unavailable
  • Fill in across Garden Center positions as needed and help maintain clean, organized, well-merchandised sales areas
