About The Position

This position will assist the head football coach in overseeing the football program at Tennessee High School. The role aims to provide overall leadership, supervision, and coordination of the football program, fostering an environment that promotes skill development for competitive participation. The program is intended to be an extension of the academic program, emphasizing academics, discipline, high morals, and team play, preparing student-athletes for productive citizenship. It also promotes integrity, sportsmanship, work ethic, and a competitive nature, referred to as "Viking Pride."

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Valid Tennessee teaching certificate preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • To be a person of high moral character and integrity.
  • To be loyal to the head coach and the administration of Tennessee High School and Bristol Tennessee City Schools.
  • To represent Tennessee High School and Bristol Tennessee City Schools in a professional manner when dealing with students, parents, community members or other schools.
  • To maintain the integrity of Tennessee High School and Bristol Tennessee City Schools by complying with all TSSAA rules and regulations.
  • To treat students in a dignified manner at all times and in all situations.
  • To create a climate that emphasizes discipline and hard work on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
  • Ability to understand instructions and underlying principles.
  • Ability to reason and make judgments.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous football coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach to evaluate and formulate an improvement plan for the overall football program.
  • Provide supervision of student-athletes involved in Tennessee High Football.
  • Assist the head coach with practices.
  • Assist the head coach with coordinating all game day activities.
  • Promote the football program in both the school and the community and serve as the spokesperson in the area of public relations for Tennessee High Football.
  • Work cooperatively with school staff, student-athletes, and parents in promoting Tennessee High Football.
  • Work cooperatively with coaches of other sports to ensure the overall success of Tennessee High Athletics.
  • Perform all duties assigned by the head coach.
  • Maintain and oversee the safety conditions of all dressing rooms, facilities, and equipment used by Tennessee High Football.
  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Enforce the code of conduct and expectations for the Tennessee High Football program.
  • Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the athletic director.
  • Ensure accident/injury reports are submitted to the athletic office in a prompt manner.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the off-season strength and conditioning program.
