FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Part-Time Assistant Football Coach - Running Backs. Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Football Coach assists the head football coach with providing vision, leadership and oversight for current student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, alumni and parents. The Assistant Coach also serves as the Running Backs Coach for the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) NCAA Division II Football Program in accordance with the guidelines established by the department, FVSU, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and the NCAA. This is a Part time, 12-month position that reports to the Head Football Coach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (2) years coaching experience
  • Experience as a college football player
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and SIAC rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with departmental and university personnel and administration

Responsibilities

  • Abide and comply with all applicable NCAA, SIAC, and FVSU policies, rules and regulations
  • Attend practices and games
  • Responsible for assisting the Offensive Coordinator with the FVSU Offensive package
  • Responsible for assisting the Special Teams Coordinator with the FVSU Special Teams package
  • Help develop practice and game plans for the football program.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction
  • Analyze game/practice videos
  • Assist in the overall vision of the football strength and conditioning program
  • Coordinate, identify, evaluate, and actively recruit prospective students including scheduling on-campus visits
  • Attend meetings with the coaching staff and individual student-athletes
  • Strive to build and strengthen cross-campus relationships
  • Assist Athletics Department with fundraising endeavors
  • Perform summer duties and special projects as assigned by the Head Football Coach or Director of Athletics
  • Other duties as assigned
