About The Position

The Martha O'Bryan Center is seeking a motivated part-time Assistant Food Security Coordinator to support its mission of combating food insecurity. This role will assist in the operation of the Center's Food Pantry and Grocery on Wheels programs, ensuring community members, especially those in food deserts, have access to nutritious food and other support services. The position is crucial for empowering families and individuals and connecting them with essential resources.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (HiSET, GED).
  • Working knowledge of supportive services and other resources in the area.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with signing clients and entering their information into Second Harvest and Martha O’Bryan database systems.
  • Assist with ordering and coordinating of food supplies for the pantry and Grocery on Wheels.
  • Assist with Grocery on Wheels delivery routes when needed.
  • Engage clients and create a welcoming environment.
  • Empower clients in a client-choice food pantry and provide helpful nutrition resources.
  • Facilitate nutrition and food sampling demonstrations twice a month.
  • Unload food deliveries.
  • Stock shelves and keep inventory.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Monitor needs of senior clients and maintain regular contact.
  • Provide referrals to other needed services from the Center or partner agencies.
  • Identify potential crisis situations and connect clients with appropriate social services and support.
  • Look for and implement program improvements through customer feedback and networking.
