About The Position

The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the F&B department. This role involves supervising and motivating staff, upholding 5-Star Luxury Service Standards and collaborating with other departments to provide exceptional guest experiences. They proactively address guest needs, resolve issues, and step in to manage the department in the F&B Manager's absence, all while striving for operational efficiency and maximizing revenue. As a 2022 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List award recipient for Best Hotel in the World, The Dewberry is located in the heart of downtown Charleston, bordering Marion Square, just steps from the shopping and dining on King Street, Museum Mile and The Gaillard Center. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Previous POS experience.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of food and alcoholic beverages required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in an upscale or luxury hotel operation, including restaurants, bars, and in-room dining preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting in daily operations of assigned F&B outlet (restaurants, bars, banquets, IRD).
  • Supervising and leading hourly F&B team, including assigning tasks and providing guidance.
  • Ensuring exceptional guest service and resolving guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintaining high standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, and service.
  • Training and developing F&B teammates to deliver luxury service standards.
  • Conducting regular inspections of F&B areas to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and adherence to standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Monitoring guest feedback and implementing improvements to enhance satisfaction.
  • Assisting with the implementation of new F&B initiatives and promotions.
  • Evaluating staff performance and providing constructive feedback.
  • Stepping in for the Food & Beverage Manager and assuming full responsibility as needed.
  • Completing additional areas of responsibility as assigned by the F&B Manager or Director of F&B, such as scheduling or inventory.
