About The Position

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine (PACCM) at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) is seeking a candidate for an Assistant or Associate Professor position to fill the role of the Endowed Chair and Director of the Burghardt Food Allergy Center. This role involves providing expert diagnosis and care for patients with lung diseases, allergy, asthma, and immunologic disorders. The position also includes responsibilities in teaching, research, and administrative duties. The appointee will provide outpatient and inpatient clinical services in the Allergy and Immunology Section. Educational responsibilities include participating in division grand rounds and conferences, and potentially teaching residents and medical students. Research can be independent clinical, translational, or basic science. The Director will manage endowment expenditures for food allergy research and teaching, and is expected to have a strong history of NIH funding or other research grants. Laboratory space and start-up funds may be provided. The Section trains medical residents and offers a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology, providing clinical coverage at OHSU Hospital and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and potentially satellite locations in the Portland metro region.

Requirements

  • M.D or other qualifying doctorate degree
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and/or Pediatrics
  • Board certified or board eligible in Allergy and Immunology
  • Expertise in allergic and immunologic diseases for a diverse patient population in outpatient clinics and on inpatient consultations services.
  • Current or a substantial history of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding, industry-sponsored studies, or funded investigator-initiated trials related to basic or translational research in food allergy.
  • MD or other qualifying doctorate degree
  • ABIM and/or ABP certification or eligibility for certification
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship in Allergy/Immunology

  • Interest and experience in education, systems improvement initiatives, and/or clinical research related to food allergies.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of outpatient and inpatient clinical duties in the Allergy and Immunology Section of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, as assigned by the Division Head.
  • Presenting at and otherwise participating in division grand rounds and other conferences.
  • May include teaching residents and medical students.
  • Conduct independent clinical, translational, or basic science research.
  • Responsible for expenditures from an endowment aimed towards research and teaching in food allergy.
  • Lead and coordinate the development of multi-disciplinary clinics and expansion of clinical trials.
  • Teaching Allergy and Immunology fellows as well as residents from multiple specialties and medical students.
  • Proficiency in treating both common and complex allergic and immunologic disorders in both inpatient and outpatient practice at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
  • May be required to spend part of their clinical time at nearby satellite locations in the Portland metro region.
