As an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO), you will support Nexagen’s security program at a designated location, working closely with the primary FSO to ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and all associated government regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to work independently as the on-site security lead. You will assist with personnel security, security education, classified materials management, physical security standards, and coordination with government partners. Requirements

  • Current and Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Completion of the CDSE FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities Course.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial security, personnel security, or an AFSO/FSO-support role within a cleared DoD contractor environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of: 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule)
  • Strong working knowledge of: Industrial security program operations
  • Strong working knowledge of: DISS, NISS, NBIS, SWFT, and other DCSA systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and classified information with discretion.
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site security officer/Office Manager at Nexagen’s Frederick, MD location and coordinate all security matters with the primary FSO.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule), DCSA directives, contract-specific security requirements, and customer security instructions.
  • Manage personnel security (PCL) processes including initiation, adjudication tracking, reinvestigations, incident reporting, and eligibility monitoring.
  • Maintain and utilize government security platforms including DISS, NISS, NBIS, and SWFT.
  • Conduct all required security briefings and debriefings.
  • Maintain classified storage and safeguarding requirements in accordance with federal standards for GSA containers or open storage areas.
  • Oversee access control procedures, visitor authorization requests, badge processes, and local physical security measures.
  • Maintain and support Insider Threat Program requirements at the assigned site, ensuring compliance with training, reporting, awareness, and recordkeeping obligations.
  • Support internal self-inspections, prepare for DCSA assessments, and assist with security reviews and corrective action plans.
  • Identify, document, and report adverse information, suspicious contacts, security violations, and other reportable events in accordance with DCSA and contract requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date security documentation, rosters, visit records, and training logs.
  • Serve as a liaison with government customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders regarding security-related matters.
  • Serve as office manager and visitor control for daily operations within the Frederick, MD office.
