About The Position

As Assistant Executive Kitchen Manager, you are the right hand to the Executive Kitchen Manager (EKM), helping lead the kitchen and keep operations running at a high level every day. You partner closely with the EKM to support all back-of-house operations, ensuring every dish meets our standards for quality, consistency, and food safety. You play a key role in developing and coaching the kitchen team, reinforcing standards, and driving strong execution on every shift. From supporting inventory and cost awareness to maintaining organization and flow in the kitchen, you help ensure the team is set up for success. With a strong focus on leadership, teamwork, and operational excellence, you contribute to building a high-performing kitchen and a culture that takes pride in great food and great execution. This role is a critical step in growing into a top kitchen leader within Din Tai Fung. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years restaurant management experience in casual or upscale casual dining.
  • Strong financial acumen
  • High level understanding of inventory and ordering processes.
  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older and able to provide documentation to work in the United States legally

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English and Spanish but not a must have
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Validate scheduling for EKM review, submitting people transactions such as promotions and demotions, participating in investigations in partnership with HR, coach and document performance and corrective actions and the development of managers.
  • Responsible for conducting interviews, making final hiring decisions for non-exempt BOH staff and assist with the hiring process for managerial roles.
  • Work with managers on Zenput task lists and ensure operational needs are met, including accurate ordering, par levels, and inventory management.
  • Teach, coach, and maintain brand standards while ensuring the team is updated on new rollouts, promotions, and changes.
  • Collaborate with EKM to create staffing and planning needs for BOH, and assist in implementing COG and KPI action plans.
  • Train and coach the team on food safety, maintain compliance with health department protocols, and implement and follow up on the Ecosure Action Plan.
  • Prepare and review manager meeting decks for EKM, follow up on facilities needs, and ensure overall food safety and quality standards are met.
  • Ensure the team is certified and up to date with training on key stations, including Wok, Noodle, and Prep.
